Designated Examiner
 Avian Flight Center is proud to use Johnny Summers as our primary designated examiner for FAA Checkrides, including CFI and CFII Checkrides. Johnny has a strong aviation and teaching background with over 10,000 hours of total flight time. Johnny started his aviation career by flying helicopters in the Army. He then flew high performance T-38s in the Air Force, followed by heavy KC-135s. In the civilian market, he has flown and instructed light aircraft, flew for the world's largest regional airline -- American Eagle -- and is currently flying for Alaska Airlines.
Johnny enhances safety throughout the Aviation Community by being a FAAST (FAA Safety Team) Representative. In 1997 he was named Aviation Safety Counselor of the Year. In 1999 he was appointed an FAA Designated Pilot Examiner, authorized to issue Private, Commercial, and Instrument Pilot Certificates, as well as CFI and CFII Instructor Certificates.
